Support Worker

Central Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Support Worker, to work in the Crystal Palace area. The 56 bed service provides support to individuals with complex and multiple needs, including mental health and substance misuse.

The successful candidate will be required to work 45 hours per week, working across Monday - Sunday on a rota basis covering 8AM - 6PM shifts. You will work every other weekend. Temporary cover is required for approximately 2-3 months. The pay rate for this role is £14.80 per hour, with £1.79 holiday pay, totalling £16.59 per hour.

In this position, you will be required to:
- Hold a caseload of key clients
- Work with residents to develop an agreed, person-centred support plan which offers positive outcomes in order for each individual to achieve personal goals and address issues that have been identified as barriers to living independently
- Support and encourage residents to engage in social, educational, and leisure activities to enhance their well-being.
- Assist and encourage residents as appropriate to maintain their rooms in a clean and safe condition.
- Monitor and supervise the health and wellbeing of residents at agreed intervals dependent on progress.
- Monitor residents' concordance in terms of prescribed medication and alert health and social care providers immediately of any concerns or discrepancies. Also reporting internally any changes or possible relapse indicators identified.
- Work in close partnership with external agencies and to notify them of any concerns or changes in a residents' wellbeing in a timely manner.
- Carry out regular wellbeing checks to ensure the health and safety of the residents and the security of the building during the day
- Ensure that only authorised persons, or others who have prior permission, enter the building
- Ensure that any emergencies/incidents are dealt with, in accordance with the relevant policies and procedures.
- Develop a good understanding of all legislation and guidance relating to the health and welfare of residents
- Participate in a duty rota that meets the needs of the service.

To apply for this role candidates must have;
- Experience of supporting residents with mental health needs
- Knowledge and understanding of issues related to both alcohol and substance abuse.
- Experience of working in a Supported Housing setting
- Experience of compiling SMART action plans
- Experience of using appropriate techniques to work with residents who may be agitated or display challenging behaviours
- Able to compile comprehensive assessments including risk assessments.
- Knowledge of the Health and Social Care legislation
- Knowledge of Adult Safeguarding and Protection of Vulnerable Adults and how to apply its principles
- Understanding of Welfare Benefits
- Able to identify and work with residents' strengths in addition to addressing problem behaviours
- IT skills necessary to compile correspondence and reports
- Desirable: Ability to cook when required
