Support Worker

Central Recruitment is currently recruiting for a permanent Support Worker, to work in the Newham area. The 24/7 supported accommodation provides support to young people aged 16-17 years who are in care.

The successful candidate will be required to work 36 hours per week, working across Monday - Sunday on a rota basis covering long (9AM - 9PM) and waking night (9PM - 9AM) shifts. This is a permanent role. The salary is £27,705.60 per annum.

In this position, you will be expected to;
- Provide hands-on, consistent support to 16-17-year-olds in our residential provision
- Support young people to develop essential life skills (cooking, budgeting, self-care, tenancy management)
- Complete risk assessments
- Respond calmly and professionally to challenging behaviour and emotional crises
- Working collaboratively with multi agencies to ensure safeguarding at all times
- Maintaining accurate, detailed records using our digital case management system
- Writing clear, professional keywork notes, logs and monthly reports
- Liaising with external agencies, social workers and other professionals

To apply for this role, you must have;
- At least 1 year of experience working with young people aged 16-17 in a care, residential or supported housing setting
- A genuine, demonstrable passion for working with care-experienced young people
- Understanding of safeguarding, trauma-informed practice and the challenges facing young people leaving care
- Confident IT skills and ability to use digital case management systems
- Current Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (Children Workforce) - or willingness to apply
- Current Safeguarding certification - or willingness to complete upon appointment
- Desirable: NVQ / QCF Level 3 (or above) in Health & Social Care, Children & Young People, or equivalent
- Desirable: Experience working in a 24/7 residential setting
- Desirable: Knowledge of the Children Act, Care Leavers Act and relevant legislation
